{"id":10013,"date":"2019-04-30T14:06:56","date_gmt":"2019-04-30T19:06:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/?p=10013"},"modified":"2019-05-08T19:47:39","modified_gmt":"2019-05-09T00:47:39","slug":"through-the-lens-student-photographer-ashlee-brus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/archives\/10013","title":{"rendered":"Through the Lens: Student Photographer Ashlee Brus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By Cynthia Monroy&#8211;<\/strong>Ashlee Brus is a freshman majoring in photography who has proven to be successful in her craft.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/04\/ashlee-brus-CR-800x800.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10014\" width=\"410\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/04\/ashlee-brus-CR-800x800.jpg 800w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/04\/ashlee-brus-CR-200x200.jpg 200w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/04\/ashlee-brus-CR-400x400.jpg 400w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/04\/ashlee-brus-CR-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/thecr\/files\/2019\/04\/ashlee-brus-CR.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Born and raised in Denison, Iowa, she discovered her passion for photography throughout her 4-H career; she began capturing photos of nature and was inspired by photographers across the world to shoot portraits.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brus says attending Morningside has helped expand her expertise in different camera settings like exposure and lighting.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have a passion for photography and I love learning new things\nabout each aspect there is to it,\u201d Brus explained. \u201cI love doing portrait\nphotography because there is so much you can do with it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brus has displayed her work and received several\nrecognitions at the Crawford\nCounty, Clay County, and Iowa State Fairs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In February, Brus received third place for her photography, <em>Laundromat Blues<\/em>, at the annual Morningside Student Art Show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her free time, Brus does photography sessions for her page Ashlee\nBrus Photography where she takes engagements, senior, family, baby, and prom portraits.\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy biggest inspirations are seeing my old work and seeing if I\ncan do better,\u201d said Brus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through different\navenues and splashes of creativity, Brus hopes to capture those special moments\nthrough her photography. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brus will continue\nher career at Western Iowa Tech Community College this fall. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Cynthia Monroy&#8211;Ashlee Brus is a freshman majoring in photography who has proven to be successful in her craft.
