A 14 year old\u00a0boy named Ahmed Mohamed loves to build and invent things. He decided to build \u00a0clock and take it to his high school in Irving Texas. This action later ended up with Ahmed in handcuffs because they accused him of creating a bomb hoax and was suspended for three days. The police later said he would not be charged after the public questioned about whether or not he was questioned because of his religion.<\/p>\n
This story became so popular that President Obama tweeted saying “Cool Clock, Ahmed. Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like science. Its what makes America great.” Ahmed plans on accepting the Presidents invitation to the White House as well as possibly transferring high schools.\u00a0\u201cThis episode is a good illustration of how pernicious stereotypes can prevent even good-hearted people who have dedicated their lives to educating young people from doing the good work that they set out to do,\u201d said Josh Earnest, the White House press secretary.<\/p>\n
Details about the case were later revealed saying that he brought it to school and showed his engineering teacher and his teacher said, “that’s cool, but don’t show any other teacher.” Ahmed was in english when it beeped and another teacher saw it and said, “it looks like a bomb.” The Irving police chief, Larry Boyd, said the police were justified in detaining the teenager based on the information they had at the time, when initially it was \u201cnot immediately evident that it was the experiment.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
