Yesterday Iowa highway Patrol ordered a ban of hand-held radar guns in Des Moines, Iowa. Does this mean no more speeding tickets? According to spokesman Adam Berluti, &#8220;the reason they are trying to ban the hand-held radar guns is because of concerns that troopers could develop cancer from longterm exposure to the radiation waves emitted by the devices. The ban was ordered as a precaution while studies are conducted into the possible links between cancer and the use of such guns. &#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Does this mean this is the end of those annoying speeding tickets?\u00a0The ban affects 70 radar guns that will be withdrawn from service. State troopers will continue to use radar units with transmitters mounted on the outside of their cruisers. Apparently nobody likes state troopers enough to keep them from caner. &#8220;The feeling here is to err on the side of caution until more is known about the issue,&#8221; Berlutti said. &#8220;The whole situation is under review.&#8221; So don&#8217;t think\u00a0about driving down the highway feeling like a NASCAR driver because you&#8217;re more then likely to unfortunately get a speeding ticket.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Does cancer have a positive\u00a0affect on our lives now?
