The title of this blog is somewhat ironic, or something, because in fact reading a book is not at all unusual for me.

Here’s another thing I’ve found that I’ve enjoyed. Occasionally I’ve stumbled across a blog in which somebody is reading a book that I’ve read, and writing about it. Right now, for example, there’s a great one at tor.com, in which someone is reading George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, and writing a summary of each chapter, along with her reaction. So I’m enjoying this, and I thought it might be fun to try something like it.

Of course, it’s not very likely that anyone will find this blog, much less start reading it regularly. But then again, I’m not in this for the glory. (Although, should glory come, I wouldn’t turn it down.)

Finally, my reading retention leaves something to be desired. I have lots of books on my shelf or in boxes that I’ve read before but have very little memory of. So by writing about books as I read them, I’m hoping that this will help me remember them better, as well as perhaps getting more out of them through the extra reflection.

So anyway, onto a book.

–Dave

First of all, I like to read.
