Ethnography May 21, 2024UncategorizedRyan Recently, life has taught me the importance of how precious family truly is, and how memories can be captured and preserved. My family has molded me day after day, teaching me right from wrong, to always help others in need, and to be kind in every situation. They have made the single greatest impact on my life. Hanging in my room are constant reminders of mission trips I have gone on, reminding myself every morning how great I truly have it. From the Ugandan National flag to the shirts acquired in Louisiana, I am greeted with fond memories of trying to help others and spreading the word while doing it. Since coming to Morningside, faith and reading the Bible have become a cornerstone of who I am. With each morning a new chapter or verse being read, I get a feeling of comfort and security from reading diving into the word each and every day. While at home, I had the pleasure of aiding my dad in preparing for planting, in which I was able to snag this picture. Helping around the farm has taught me great ideals such as the importance of hard work, and that anything worthwhile takes time to achieve. That nothing will be handed to you and you have to make your own destiny. My dog Maverick has also had a great impact on my life. From aquirring him at a young age, I was tasked with simple chores such as feeding him, making sure he has water, and many other minute details. From early on, I was graced with the opportunity of responsibility, learning the importance of caring for something other than myself. These two items along with a select few I believe made up my childhood from as early on as I can remember. From hot summer nights, to brisk January mornings, sports have been almost put on a pedestal in my life. A great deal of life listens have been learned from playing on various successful teams along with unsuccessful ones. From the importance of bonding with one another and teamwork, to how to communicate a problem, sports have molded me into who I am to this today a great deal. Every morning when waking up, I am greeted with the reminder of why 6 am workouts are necessary. That without hardworking and dedication, getting to the top of the podium is unrealistic and unattainable. However, looking at what was once had lights a fire inside myself of what can be accomplished. As a college student, buying copious amounts of healthy food turns out to be quite difficult. I believe this pictures shows and average college students pantry on a budget, where the healthier more pricy items are a rare site and the junky, cheaper foods reign supreme. I have always enjoyed collecting and wearing new sneakers, whether it be my day to day shoe or one that is only worn for special occasions. I have always admired how a shoe can change ones look and how they feel. From early morning to late in the night, music can always be heard playing from either my phone or my record player. Music has always been a comfort as it can be played in any situation to either brighten the mood, of display ones true emotions.
