Ever wonder how flies land upside-down? Well this new video shows us just how they do it.

A study by Bo Cheng shows that the flies have several ways of attempting this landing. The main form used is a backflip where the hind legs of the fly hits the ceiling first, then the rest of the body follows.

Another way they land upside down is by barrel rolling. The flies rolls into position with one side of legs catching the ceiling and swinging the other half into position.

This isn’t an easy feat however. It is reported that the flies have 50 milliseconds to react to the wall or ceiling. No reaction causes a collision of course.

Aliens may not exist in CIA’s records. Edward Snowden, former employee of the CIA, reveals that aliens aren’t in CIA’s records after search.

While talking on a podcast, Snowden said: “I had ridiculous access to the networks of the NSA, the CIA, the military, all these groups. I couldn’t find anything.”

Although not being able to find aliens; Snowden did find evidence of the moon landing. “In case you were wondering: Yes, man really did land on the moon.”

Greta Thunberg, a 16 year old Swedish activist, questions our emissions usage at UN summit yesterday.

Thunberg gave a heartfelt speech about the worlds plans to cut down emissions usage was weak and “nowhere in site” to what it needs to be. he opening to the speech gave warning to the UN saying, “we will be watching you”.

Thunberg also touched on how, “(The World) has stolen my childhood” by leaving these problems for her generation to solve. Even though she had her childhood “stolen” from her, she considers herself one of the lucky ones.

At the end of Thunberg’s speech, she addresses that “change is coming whether you like it or not”.

Parking: A Commuters Epidemic

To commuters, parking may be the biggest source of stress they will encounter throughout their entire college career. The common problems commuters have to deal with while trying to park may outweigh the rest of the problems they face the rest of the day. 

These problems include high prices for parking passes, dodging fines and tickets, and finally trying to find a spot to park in.

Parking passes can be a problem for commuters because it’s another expense that goes towards the college. Here at Morningside, parking passes can set you back $100. This may not be much to some, but for college students its critical.

Zac Hazen, a local student and commuter at Morningside College said, “It’s stupid how much they are, but it feels like you need one anyway”. 

If you aren’t rocking a parking pass, you will have to dodge fines and tickets. This can be very stressful especially if you’re just trying to make it to class on time. You can always try to park on street sides and other parking lots, but there are never guaranteed spots. 

Zac, who chose not to buy a parking pass, said: “Usually I just try to park on a street somewhere, if its full I’ll park in the lot hoping I won’t get fined. 

Sometimes you might just have to park halfway across campus just to ensure you won’t be ticketed. 

Lastly, there’s trying to find a parking space. It feels like there just isn’t any parking around campus most of the time. Parking usually starts to fill up around 9-9:30am, but what if class doesn’t start till 10? 

Too bad, I guess. You can try to learn when major class times get out, but who really has time between projects and studying for tests? Jordan Torez, a student at Morningside College stated, “Just trying to get to class is a hassle enough”.

Parking is a whole other mess thats adds to the stresses of college and demands a lot out of students here at Morningside. It leaves a lot of room for improvement. Parking passes, parking spaces, and dodging fines all contribute to the stress of parking here at Morningside. 

Nebraska’s Khalil Davis is suspended for week 6 after striking Ohio State player.

Davis struck the player during the first quarter although there was no flag called on the play. The suspension was announced on Wednesday by The Big Ten.

This article was very informative about the situation and stayed unbiased. It might’ve lacked some details but the situation seems closed off.

Alex Watters, you may have heard of him before. Thats because of all of the work he has done around Sioux City while being handicapped. Alex is currently part of the Sioux City council while also lending his helping hand in career services at Morningside College.

Alex grew up in Iowa where he developed his main passion in life, politics. He carried this over even into college when he made the move to Sioux City to study at Morningside College. During his first week at Morningside, Alex was involved in an accident that would change his life forever.

After diving head first into shallow water, Alex broke his neck and was shortly taken to the hospital. He now lives his life handicapped with varying movement in his arms and now confined to a wheel chair. Alex loves to look at the positives in his situation saying, “It could be a lot worse”. Even though he is handicapped, Alex likes to think of the ways he was blessed by the situation.

Alex now works at Morningside College while being a member of city council. At Morningside, Alex worked as an advisor for four years before making the switch to career services. “My favorite thing to see is when students have the realization about a career path”.

After taking a bite out of the slick and smooth deviled egg, I was immediately hit with the taste of mayo and puréed egg. As I continued to chew, I found that the egg casing and egg filling began to mush together creating an “interesting” flavor. The red spices on the top never really came out as the taste of egg and mayo came out the strongest.   

For the items I had to find were a movie recommendation and a selfie with a person.

For the movie recommendation I asked Grace Russman, who was about to enter the commons for lunch. I asked her for her movie recommendation and she quickly replied with, “the princes bride”. I thanked her and sent her on her way.

The second was the weirdest, a selfie with a stranger. My subject was Ben Hieb, just a student waiting for class. I asked him for the selfie and he replied, “um yeah sure” before snapping this pic:

1. I think i put the most effort into writing the lead for the story. I did this because it is the most important part of the story besides the information that follows.
2. The most difficult part of the story for me was structuring the paper from the most important info to least important. To me, a lot of the info was important for my story.
3. The biggest problem I encountered while writing this story was leaving some information out when it should’ve been included.

Neiron Ball, 27, a former linebacker for the Oakland Raiders dies of rare brain condition.

Ball was struck with a brain aneurysm in December of 2018 and later placed in a medically induced coma. Ball’s family says that Ball has been conscious through his coma. Natalie Myricks, Ball’s Sister, stated, “He can track with his eyes, but he can’t move his legs, arms or neck”.

The lead this article used was pretty good, using injury and death to attract readers. The author also did a good job staying away from biases and let the quotes provoke emotion.
