Christmas

Post on October 17th, 2011 by Meghann

After reading this weeks topic of Christmas, I was surprised on how much Christmas has changed since the start of it. I feel Christmas is too much on the gifts people give each other and not enough of being with family or the people you love. In the beginning of Christmas, there was no gift giving, no Santa Claus, or baby Jesus’s birthday. This facts surprises me because ever since i can remember those are the 3 main thing Christmas is about.

Even being the somewhat religious person that I am, I knew nothing about how it says absolutely nothing in the New Testament about the birth of Jesus. I think its weird how historically we don’t even know when the heck Jesus’s birthday even is. But I did know that they picked the end of December because they wanted to keep the celebrations continuing throughout the end of December.

This Christmas I’ll definitely be thinking about Christmas in a different way this year.

Since you say you will be viewing Christmas in a different way do you think if more people knew the truth about Christmas it would be as popular?

I think I also am going to see Christmas differently this year too because I always just thought of it as Jesus’ birthday.

HI, its me again, I love Christmas. I enjoy being with my family and all of the good food. I have a huge family and every year we all get together and celebrate. The day before Christmas eve we have a family dinner and we eat home made enchiladas. Than for Christmas eve we usually have pulled pork. On Christmas day we have a feast which includes, a roast, potatoes, corn, steak, several different salads, cottage cheese and many other dishes and deserts. After you Christmas feast all of us older kids bring out the presents. All of the younger kids open their presents first and then the older kids and adults. I will say that we are all blessed. After presents we usually Play some board games and then go to a late show at the movies. The next day following Christmas our family shopping spree begins. My grandma and Aunt take all of us older girls shopping to spend our Christmas money. I LOVE XMAS!!
