On Saturday, Richard and Laurette Brunson got married on the front porch of their home, 617 Black Street. Later the same evening, at 5 p.m., it was reported by a police spokesman that Richard shot his wife with a .22-caliber handgun.

This tragic disaster happened after she threw a plate of macaroni salad at her husband. The couple had been living together in the house for four to five months before the marriage, this only made matters worse though.

A neighbor called the police and reported “I heard the sound of the shot or I think I did…. it was kind of a pop, pop, pop, and then the son came out and yelled she’s been shot and cannot breathe. “

The police later arrived on the scene, but the groom was gone. It is said that his whereabouts are still unknown and Laurette is in St. Luke’s Hospital in good condition after being shot in the abdomen.

Laurette spoke about her situation to a reporter, “No comment, leave us alone, leave us all alone.”
