Stuart Scott Speech

Stuart Scott, an American sportscaster was awarded the Jimmy V Award at the 2014 ESPY Awards.

He spoke about how honored he was to win this award but Stuart also spoke on how he felt as if he did not deserve to be in a group with the other great people who have been awarded this award.

Stuart has been battling cancer, he talked about how his motto for this tough time was “I’m not losing. I’m still here, I’m fighting. I’m not losing.” He exclaimed that he amends that statement by giving words of wisdom by coming up with this inspirational sentence “When you die, that does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live and in the manner in which you live.”

Stuart Scott was tremendously thankful for this award and he made sure to mention that. He also expressed and gave a special shoutout to his daughters. Another thanks was given to everyone in his support system during this difficult time. Scott recognized, “This whole fight, this journey thing, is not a solo venture. This is something that requires support.”

This speech touched its audience, provided inspiration, and poked at the emotions of the people too.
