Story 4 rough

Many people on campus know Cheryl Gamble. You can find her office in the hyper building and you can also find her at almost every sporting event. Cheryl is a secretary of the athletic department, but is more like the glue that keeps everything organized.

Cheryl was born in Sioux City and has a twin brother. “I lived in Sioux City for eleven years and then we moved to a farm out in Westfield and I thought my whole world was falling apart,” said Cheryl.

Although she might have thought it was the end of the world, she ended up graduating with twenty-three kids in her class and married her high school sweet heart.

Cheryl’s job may look like she just sits behind a desk, but she is way more involved than you think, “I love sports, so it’s easy to get involved and help the teams. Right now I am currently helping with the volleyball national tournament and I will also help with the basketball national tournament.”

Cheryl will also help keep track of athletes grades, “that can be very time consuming and it takes a lot of work.”

She also is involved is helping coaches set up their end of the year banquets. She is currently helping with the volleyball team’s banquet this weekend.

Although it may seem like Cheryl does a lot of work she loves doing it.

“I just love my job. My life revolves around my kids and my job,” she said.

When Cheryl isn’t working to help the athletic department at Morningside, she is off riding motorcycles with her husband. Most people may be surprised to see Cheryl on the back of a Harley, but it is a way for her to get away.

“My husband and I have ridden all the way to Alaska and down to the Florida Keys. The ride was amazing and we saw so many wild animals. It wasn’t as cold as you might think, we do have heated jackets, but the cold just didn’t affect us.”

She also likes to spend time with her grandchildren who are six, five, and three.

If you wanted to take the time out of your day and just say hi to Cheryl, her door is always open and she always welcomes people with a smile.

This was really interesting. Cheryl is a person that a I’ve heard about but didn’t know anything really about her. For the final draft, I would suggest describing her more or adding a scene of something that you observed her doing, like relating to a student. Great job!

I love this. THis is a good story about someone overcoming a personal problem, and ending up doing something that they love! Keep it up miranda!

You definitely captured her interest in sports and making sure things run smoothly in the athletic department. Off to a good start.

I agree. Good start… i would suggest you make it a little more personal. Right now it still seems like you are desribing what she does. Definitely should be interesting once you find something to expand upon.. like the motorcycle trips could be related to her lifestyle more or whatever you can come up with 😉

This was a great article to read. I never knew that Cheryl rides motorcycles. I also liked the first part of the article where you referenced Cheryl being the glue that keeps everything organized.
