Cheryl Gamble Final

Many people on campus know Cheryl Gamble. You can find her office is the HPER building and you can also find her at almost every sporting event. Cheryl is a secretary of the athletic department, but is more like the glue that keeps everything organized.

Although she might have thought it was the end of the world, she ended up graduating with twenty-three kids in her class and married her high school sweet heart.

Cheryl’s job may look like she just sits behind a desk, but she is way more involved than you think, “I love sports, so it’s easy to get involved and help the teams. Right now I am currently helping with the volleyball national tournament and I will also help with the basketball national tournament.”

Cheryl gets involved with the national tournament because she loves sports so much.

Cheryl will also help keep track of athletes grades, “that can be very time consuming and it takes a lot of work.”

She also is involved is helping coaches set up their end of the year banquets. She is currently helping with the volleyball team’s banquet this weekend.

“Jerry Schmutte and I have built a good relationship. I just go with it, and I just do what he needs me to do.”

Although it may seem like Cheryl does a lot of work, she loves doing it.

“I just love my job. My life revolves around my kids and my job,” she said.

When Cheryl isn’t working to help the athletic department at Morningside, she is off riding motorcycles with her husband. Most people may be surprised to see Cheryl on the back of a Harley, but it is a way for her to get away.

“My husband and I have ridden all the way to Alaska and down to the Florida Keys. The ride was amazing and we saw so many wild animals. It wasn’t as cold as you might think, we do have heated jackets, but the cold just didn’t affect us.”

She also likes to spend time with her grandchildren who are six, five, and three. Along with being the glue to the athletic department, she is the glue to her family as well.

If you wanted to take the time out of your day and just say hi to Cheryl, her door is always open and she always welcomes people with a smile.

I choose this article because of the format it was in. The text is in a huge block and made it very unattractive to read. The story about the movies were very interesting, but I was reluctant to read it because of all the text. I feel like if the would have broken up he text into two columns it would have been easier to read.

I choose this not because of the story, but it was an example of a story and a broadcast story. It was definatly interesting and it added to the story by being able to hear it instead of reading it.

Story 4 rough

Many people on campus know Cheryl Gamble. You can find her office in the hyper building and you can also find her at almost every sporting event. Cheryl is a secretary of the athletic department, but is more like the glue that keeps everything organized.

Cheryl was born in Sioux City and has a twin brother. “I lived in Sioux City for eleven years and then we moved to a farm out in Westfield and I thought my whole world was falling apart,” said Cheryl.

Friday 11-19-10

I choose this article because I thought it was interesting. I love chocolate and to know that it is kind of good for you just makes me love it even more. I think stories like this appeal to certain audiences, like me, and can make reading the news more interesting.

Friday Article 11-12-10

I think this article is pretty funny. The whole time I was reading the story I was picturing mom’s running from target to wall-mart trying to find the best deals. Although the story gave quality information about the difference between target and wall-mart, the story might have been better if they got quotes from actual moms looking for the best deals. The quotes would have added a conversational feel and draw the reader in more.

Script

Introduction: President Obama is changing health care. He is making it more affordable and more accessible.  2014 is when the Affordable Care Act will allow access to state-run health care.

I sat down with (Teacher) and asked what they thought about his new plan,

Quote about 15 sec

Ask 2-3 students depending on time,

How does Obama’s health care plan affect you?

Do you agree with Obama’s healthcare plan? Why?

Conclusion: You might agree with Obama’s plan, or you might not, either way it is going to affect you.

Friday Article

This article didn’t surprise me. I know obesity is a huge problem, but most of the time you hear about child obesity and not so much in adults. The article is pretty well written with a good lead and good organization of facts and information.

Extra Credit Friday

I thought is article was very well written. The reason I read it was the lead. The sentence catches your attention right away because it goes right into a baby dying. That sentence might turn some people away because the thought of a baby dying can be disturbing, but I think it requires a double take when you read it. The story doesn’t give you a lot of information about the situation but it is short and to the point.
