College students are always juggling, be it literal or metaphorical. There was once a May Term on campus called Here Come the Magic Clowns in which students would learn how to be a clown, juggle, and do magic. However, many student-athletes at Morningside have to balance everything between classes, jobs, and of course their athletics. This delicate juggling act not only defines their college experience but also prepares them for the challenges of life beyond graduation.

In the ever-evolving landscape of social media advertising, a new trend is emerging that goes beyond the familiar platforms of Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram. Advertisers seeking niche audiences are now turning to creators who align with their brand’s values and aesthetics, giving rise to the phenomenon of nano influencers.

From Charli D’Amelio endorsing Dunkin Donuts to PewDiePie promoting NordVPN, large influencers have traditionally been advertisers’ go-to for product promotion. Beth Trejo, CEO & Co-Founder of Chatterkick in Sioux City, brings a unique perspective with 11 years in the social media industry, predicting a significant shift towards nano influencers. In an in-class interview, Trejo said, “Nano influencers are going to be huge soon.”

Camrie Miranda, a senior at Morningside University, recently discovered nano influencers, noting their prevalence on platforms like TikTok. Miranda, after learning the term nano influencers, said, “The more I look and pay attention to my For You Page on TikTok the more I realize that most of these products are being shown by small creators.”

This sentiment was echoed by Amanda Oka, a 21-year-old mom from North Dakota, who recognized the term and its applicability to influencers like Lindsay Gallimore. Being a mom, Oka follows Lindsay. Oka is currently pregnant with her second child and will be in the market for baby products soon. According to Oka, “Lindsay has some amazing deals on children’s items like baby strollers and even simple things like feminine hygiene products.”

Lindsay Gallimore (also known as @mamanloupsden), a Canadian mom with 7.8k Instagram followers, challenges the belief that sponsorship success hinges solely on a large following. Brands recognize her influence on new moms due to her niche content, fostering paid partnerships with top baby brands.

Carmen, a 20-year-old marketing student from Canada, follows Lindsay and acknowledges the risk for brands collaborating with a nano influencer. However, Lindsay’s consistent impact on her engaged 7.8k followers showcases the potential of working with smaller influencers.

In conclusion, as nano influencers like Lindsay bring unique perspectives to advertising through niche content and engaged audiences, advertisers are realizing comparable or superior results compared to collaborations with more widely known influencers.

This morning an explosion went off in the food court of Mega City Mall. Patrons and employees are all shocked, and we got an interview with Sergeant Fuglsang. The incident happened at 8:50am this morning and was reported at 8:58am. 

According to Sergeant Fuglsang there are two male individuals dead, but names will not be released as of now for families privacy. There were less than 100 individuals injured, but an official number has not yet been released. Those injuries have been consistent with fire and smoke inhalation. Sergeant Fuglsang said, “At this point we have no credible evidence that this was anything other than an accident.” There was major damage done to the beloved Mega City 17 Theaters and Penny Dreadful. There has been no direct contact with special investigators since they were called. If the public has any video of the incident, the police station asks you to bring it in for further investigation. 

Being at the scene of the incident, a Bell Taco employee said, “There was lots of screaming and crying.” She said that she didn’t see it happen, but is concerned for those affected. Another employee at the mall had this to say, “I was just at work and I felt the whole building shake.” Ben Dover was just spending his morning getting ready for his opening shift at Combat Live.

The Mega City Mall released a statement to the public as soon as this happened.

“Mega City Mall cares about the safety of employees and patrons. Because the mall is closed temporarily, shoppers can visit the mall website where they can do their Christmas shopping online. We will assist in any way possible. We want to extend our thoughts and concerns for those involved. For the time being, the mall will be closed for the weekend at least. We will keep the public informed as we gather information.”

Zookeepers at the Midland Zoo are mourning their oldest polar bear, 16 year old Homer, who was found dead this morning after his feeding.

The other two polar bears have been removed from the exhibit and are now being cautiously monitored by veterinary staff. Zookeeper Sara N. Getty said, “Homer was a very curious and playful polar bear and we will miss him terribly.”

Zoo director Chris P. Bacon said, “We will do everything in our power to determine how this bear died. Animal welfare and the preservation of species are our primary goals here at the zoo.” Dr. Shanda Lear, senior staff veterinarian at Midland Zoo, said that the zoo will perform a necropsy to try to determine the cause of death. However, according to Dr. Lear, we will not know the results for several weeks.

Polar bears have thrived at the Midland Zoo since 1985. Our unique exhibit allows the bears to engage in natural behaviors, playing in manufactured snow, digging in gravel and hunting trout in the chilled pool. The bears are ambassadors for their wild relatives, educating zoo visitors about these threatened animals.

You’ve probably heard of advertisements on platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, but there is a trend that has been showing up recently within the sponsored social media atmosphere. Many advertisers that want to reach a niche audience are looking for creators who are willing to work with them on promoting their product in a manner that fits both their prerogative and the aesthetic and overall vibe of the content creator.

Beth has a unique perspective on the social media world, therefore she has a unique perspective on what are going to be the next trends. As social media has evolved with the world, the public has become more aware that influencers can buy followers and that having a massive following does not mean to trust them fully. “Nano influencers are going to be huge soon,” said Beth in an in-class interview. 

Social Blade is an online tool you can use to see the trends in how many followers someone has as well as how many of those followers are actually interacting with the account. Nano influencer Lindsay Gallimore, mamanloupsden on Instagram, is a Canadian mom influencer who has paid partnerships with top baby brands. Some of these brands include Polar Strollers, Li’l Helper, Graco 4ever, Kidamento, and many more. These brands understand that while Lindsay is a small influencer, she has a lot of influence on new moms because of the niche of her content. According to Social Blade, Lindsay currently has 7.8k followers with an average rate of 18 likes and 3 comments per post. Usually for someone to have the amount of sponsors that Lindsay has, you would think that you need to have a niche audience of around 50k or more followers. However, these brands are taking a chance on Lindsay and that chance is paying off because of her active following.

Influencers have been around since the start of the internet. In 2003 Myspace was introduced to the world and as people became more comfortable with the platform, people started to realize that they could have an impact on the platform. All kinds of platforms since Myspace have come and gone, but the ones that have stayed are the ones that we know and have a love/hate relationship with today. Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), Snapchat, LinkedIn, and YouTube are just a few examples of social media platforms that have provided a space for people to influence those around them.

After hearing what Camrie Miranda had to say about nano influencers, someone else wanted to pitch in. Sami Giesen is a junior at Morningside University and she has heard of nano influencers, she even recognized that she follows a few. When asked what Sami’s opinions on nano influencers are, she said, “”. 

At the end of the day, nano influencers are going to start to bring in their unique perspectives on advertising using their niche content and audience. Advertisers are also recognizing that they are getting the same, if not better, results by working with a smaller creator than a largely known influencer. 

This article discusses the new, official, campus dog Bette! Bette has been on and off campus recently, but now she is the official campus dog.

This is probably news to the campus, but maybe not something that would get put onto some place like a newscast. I know for a fact that students love and thoroughly enjoy having Bette on campus and to see that she has been made a part of Morningside is something that they all appreciate. Therefore, students would and will enjoy this story. 

The purpose of this story is to inform the campus and the surrounding community that Bette is here to stay. She is Alex Watters’ dog and she can now be found in the Krone Center. This story also informs students and faculty that if they don’t like dogs Alex and those in the Krone Center will be respectful of their decisions and have Bette stay away from them.

The readers of this story benefit because they know that there is a new dog officially on campus that they can go see to just pet or relieve stress with.

“‘Anti-Choke Mug’ – Chula Innovation for Neuro Patients to Drink Water Confidently”

Choking is a hazard for those who are elderly and those who have neurological disorders. Chula, a well-known University in Thailand, has designed a mug that helps to prevent people from choking on drinks as simple as water. 

According to the article, when elderly people or people with neurological conditions eat something and drink with it pieces of food will stay in their mouths and they won’t even recognize it. The caregiver of those people has to consistently tell them to swallow two or three extra times to make sure that they don’t have anything left in their mouth, as having anything there could lead to choking up to an hour after eating. 

Chula then describes that their mug is still in its prototype stage & that it is made out of the same rubbery material that baby bottles are made out of. They also want to make this product not give off the appearance that whomever may be drinking out of it doesn’t need to be babied. They say that they are making these mugs to give the person drinking out of it confidence and not have to worry about choking.

This PR release felt like a Facebook ad based on the picture that was provided, but it showed some really important information. I thought that the layout was fairly similar; short paragraphs, easily digestible information, etc. However, I did think that this article went on for a lot longer than the typical news story that we have been reading in class. 

Carissa Is Argumentative.

It was last weekend when she was working at Texas Roadhouse and she had to argue with her manager. She sat down the table and they ordered something that should have taken 10 minutes to prepare and get out. 35 minutes later the table still had no food. When her manager asked, “Are you sure you rang it in?” Carissa specifically came back with, “Yes, I rang it in.” Because of her tone of voice, Carissa got told off for having sass with him.

She came back from that argument with, “It’s my money relying on the table, not yours.”

When you first pull this wafer stick out of the packaging, you will smell the delicious aroma of chocolate and hazelnut. As you hold onto the wafer you will notice the rough outside. 

Just wait until you bite into the perfection that is chocolate and hazelnut wafer sticks. The wafer falls apart in your mouth, dissolving as soon as it hits your tongue. The hazelnut and chocolate center is what makes this stand out though. Typically, wafer sticks will have normal milk chocolate in the middle, but this has chocolate with a hint of hazelnut. 

As you eat them, you’ll find yourself wanting more and more. The sounds of the wafer being chewed is always the most satisfying part!

It was 9:30am, and my roommates and I were about ready to leave the apartment. In a bright pink blazer comes K. K had the worst expression on her face and kept repeating that she wanted to send a strongly worded text to her boss. 

See today is the most important day for Morningside, today is when the Yamanashi City delegates are coming. K is in charge of being master of ceremonies, but she wasn’t told until yesterday.

It took her an extra ten minutes to finish getting ready in the small four room apartment. Her boss on the other end of the text message didn’t seem too concerned. K was nearly late to class. As she exited my car to go to class, she muttered under her breath something about her boss.
