News Story #1: Football

The Morningside Mustangs Football team is looking pretty good this season. They are at a perfect season with one last game to play before the playoffs. Every game so far has been a blowout, just like their last game against Concordia where the score was 50-0. When I talked to Head Coach, Steve Ryan, he was very pleased with his team.( Interview with Coach Ryan.) They think this year will be the year that they will go all the way to Nationals and win! Go Mustangs!

News Story #2: Art Club

The Morningside Art Club is a small club and most people do not know about it. The art club is for anyone who is interested in art or wants to learn about art. The cool thing about art club is that you don’t have to be an artist to be in the club. One of their quotes is, “Bad artists wanted.” (Interview with the president.) There is an upcoming event and they are always looking for new members. The meetings are at 4 o’clock every Friday in Eppley. So come check it out!

News Story #3: Science Story

How can a disorder have one name, but then change when you turn into an adult? Not only does the name change, the symptoms change too. ADHD (attention deficit hyperactive disorder) also known as ADD (attention deficit disorder) changes to AADD (adult attention deficit disorder). Two to four percent of adults experience the symptoms of AADD which include: procrastination, being unorganized, inattentiveness, and having a hard time with difficult work. However, this is different in children.

If you have a child with ADD they will not have the same symptoms as you will have. Children with ADD tend to experience inattentiveness because they will hear noises all around them that adults can generally tune out. Adults with AADD generally tend to experience a hard time with multiple tasks or any tasks because they don’t have the motivation. If you have the hyperactive part of the disorder the symptoms are different than in children too. Children are always on the move and have a hard time of sitting still, where in adults they feel restless and have a hard time doing multiple things at once. This can also be seen as thinking before you think.

If you experience any of these symptoms you might want to get tested for AADD. It will make a big difference.

Couples Shooting

October 31st, 2012

Laurette Brunson was shot at her wedding reception yesterday. The wedding was at their home and started at 2 p.m. Laurette had 3 children at the house when the shooting occurred. She was shot by her husband Richard Brunson. The police said that she was shot with a .22 calibre handgun, and he shot her in the abdomen.

The couple had been living together for about 4-5 months before they were married. The shooting happened around 5 p.m. after Laurette threw a plate of macaroni salad at Richard. A neighbor called the police, but when they got there the groom was gone. The hospital officials say that Mrs. Brunson is in satisfactory condition.

Paper Improvment

December 13th, 2010

The one thing that has changed in my papers from the summer to now is my punctuation and transitions. My grammar and punctuation wasn’t terrible, but not great. My transitions however, were not that good. They needed some work and it has gotten better. I have gotten better at commas, ending punctuation, and within sentences punctuation. My transitions have gotten better by leading into the next paragraph and ending paragraphs. I am really happy that I have gotten better at this. I feel better about writing now. I was always a good writer, meaning it was my strong area, but there is always room for improvement and I got it. I feel like it really is one of my strong areas. J

Homecoming Week

December 8th, 2010

So for the out of class events that we had to do were a lot of fun for me. I did my two during homecoming week. One of the things that I had fun with were the hena tattoos. I got two. I got a symbol that meant family and a morningside mustang one. My family flipped when I told them as well as my coach but then I told them and they calmed down. It was so funny. Another one was the homecoming game. It was pretty amazing and wierd. We won by so much. It was great. Of course it rained then stopped and then rained and stopped and then rained and stopped. Crazy. FUN WEEK!:)

What I would change about my paper

December 1st, 2010

I would change anything that was bad. I mean I know that I do not have the best paper, but I have not had very many bad comments. Yes, I do need to work on my job on bringing everything together more clearly and to make it more formal, but other than that I do not think that there is anything else. Yep! 🙂

The bigger world

November 17th, 2010

This is such a big world, but it is funny how we know so many people that know the same people we do. Like your bestfriend’s sister’s boyfriend. Weird i know. That is when you say it is a small world. So the experiences that you go through is not just one of a kind, everybody has similar experiences and you can help them by telling them the best way to handle it. For example, if you handled it the wrong way or even the right way then by telling them what to do or not to do can help them and prevent them from making a mistake. It always a good idea to get help from people even if you think you don’t need it, it is still a good idea. 🙂

Connections

November 13th, 2010

There are not really any connections between classes. There is education, chorus, basic writing, passport, and literature. So I guess basic writing and passport are connected. Other than that not really anything. However, all of my classes will help me in the future. With writing, musically, and teaching. This will all help me in my job and in life. 🙂

Changes and Answers

November 9th, 2010

My expectations for college have not really changed. I still have the same expectations and I have followed them. I am making new friends conatantly, I am getting good grades, and having fun. Some of the answers that I have found out to my questions are it is a chanllenge to be a student athlete, but it is do able. You just have to stay on top of things. Also as long as you have good time management skills you can get anything done. It is hard at first, but you get used to it. All you have to do is find out what works for you and then you will have no problem. The best way to keep up all of this is just to do it, love it, learn it, and most of all have fu with it! That is all you can do. 🙂

Literacy

November 6th, 2010

Literacy is to read and write. That is as simple as it can be, in my opinion. So it change in different diciplines depending on how you are looking at it. When you are writing a IEP for education it is dieefernt if you are writing a police report. Also reading something for eduaction is different then reading something for business. Also the way of interperating it is different. 🙂

Expectations

November 1st, 2010

In my opinion, I think professors expect way too much out of us. Just because we are in college does not mean we know everything. A lot of what we are learning is new. For example, my education class is ridiculous. My professor expects us to know everything about different types of schools and not only knowledge like that, but also electronic things. For example, I was having trouble with turnitin.com because it wouldn’t let me log in and it was going crazy so I asked one of my other teachers to help me because I have never used it before and it still wouldn’t work. So I asked my professor if he could help me with it and he told me to go ask a classmate or figure it out on my own. I told him I asked one of my other professors and he helped me and still couldn’t figure it out. He replied saying I am sorry figure it out on your own. First of all, if one of my other teachers and I couldn’t figure it out how am I supposed to do it on my own? So he finally helped me, but he expects way to much out of us. They should expect out of us what they think we know and then see if we know more. Don’t get ridiculous, first see what we know. If we knew everything we wouldn’t be in college. So first see what we know and go from there. I think that I should approach my classes with an open mind and ready to learn. Does that always work? No. But I sure can try. If you come into a class with an open mind, ready to learn, and excited/willing to learn you will have fun. Trust me! 🙂
