This article is about Trump returning to Iowa for his presidential campaign, for the second time in Sioux City. The article discusses where people who plan on attending should go for the rally, and where they should park. The article goes on to discuss how many people are predicted to be in attendance, and how many people the venue can hold.
I think this is a good informative article. It not only gives details of when and were the rally will be, be even gives directions on where one should park. In addition to the information on the rally itself, it goes on to discuss the preparation Trumps security is taking for the event.
Their are plenty of quotes from high ranking oficals littered through the article. The article closes with some information about the last time Trump visited Sioux City.
This article is about a women burning down here house and being charged with arson.
I like the way that this article is formatted, it follows the inverted pyramid. The first paragraph tells you what the story is about and gives little details about the situation. As you read further you start to get a background of the people involved in the article.
The reporter goes on to talk about the intention of the women starting the fire, and gives us a brief summery of what police reported on the scene.
The last paragraph wraps up the entire article and tells the reader what the women is charged with. Along with the charge it gives us details on her fines and how much her bail is set at. Finally the closing sentenced tells the reader when her court date is set and where she is currently being held.
Thomas Ritchie believes that those we work well in the journalism world, can translate and successed in the marketing world.
Thomas is from Iowa and went to College at Mt. Marty. Thomas worked as a former journalist for Argus Newspaper. Thomas covered some interesting topics, he even interviewed a 100 year old man. He worked their for several years until he came to this sudden realization, journalism is dead.
Thomas says that those in journalism could do well in the marketing world. He says that the pay is better, and their is much more opportunities to grow.
Thomas went on to say, “a journalist and marketer have many similarities, a good journalist is almost marketing to their audience”.
In a world were most your news is heard over twitter or some influencer spilling you the latest topic, the journailsm world is on it’s last legs. News that you hear rather it be truthful or not is almost always there some digital device leaving newspaper to the dust.
Thomas advice to journalist trying to make it is to “take a stand, stand by it, and publish it”. That same advice can be translated to the marketing world, create a market, stand by it, sell it.
In recent months Iowa has seen a huge fluctuation in gas prices. In terms of regular gas (E87), The Des Moines Register reported gas prices as high as $4.02 and as low as$ 3.38. On average, the state of Iowa gas prices fluctuates around $3.52. This price isn’t as bad as it looks, when looking at states like California, KMA News Radio said they have seen prices as high as $5.89.
With such a fluctuation in gas prices it can be hard on people to fill up their tanks. Drew Bessey, a Morningside University alum, says that the gas prices have caused him to not drive as much. In his day-to-day commute, he does his best to carpool to and from work.
Working with children, Bessey tends to have to drive children to and from. With gas prices on the rise he finds himself forced to pay whatever the pump demands. With work only paying him him 35% back on gas, this bill quickly can add up.
Another Morningside student said that gas prices have caused him to stop driving his truck altogether. Jackson Perrine says the only time he will drive his vehicle is if he needs to drive home to Sutton, Nebraska. With Jackson driving a truck, him having to drive home and back will cost him almost $150.
In 2022 Kim Reynolds signed a bill that mandated most Iowa gas stations sell fuels with higher ethanol blends. The bill mandates that gas stations must sell gas with a 15% ethanol blend, this fuel is known as E15. Although this bill has been put into place, the effects won’t be seen until 2026. This in hand leads to cheaper fuel prices. The more local corn we use in our fuel, the cheaper our fuel will be.
According to J.D Power the average person spends anywhere from $150 to $200 per month. With people already spending an increasing amount of money on groceries, having to pitch in an extra 20-50 dollars a month can seem like a lot.
Professor Muzinga, a Morningside business teacher, said that the steady incline in gas prices will continue for weeks to come. With war erupting overseas and our gas supply chain constantly at risk, the cost of gas will continue to increase. In Muzingas professional opinion, as long as we rely on other countries for our gas prices, we will never truly be in control of our fuel prices.
Not only has Iowa seen a fluctuation in gas but the entire United States has seen historic fluctuation in gas prices. The largest factor to the fluctuation in prices is the oil supply. According to EIA any disruptions to crude oil supplies, refinery operations, or gas pipeline deliveries can result in fluctuating fuel cost.
Gas prices are always going to be something that affects our day to day lives. Weather that is our day-to-day commute, or maybe planning a road trip. Gas prices will always affect how we go about our everyday lives.
Some things we can do to help combat the rise in gas prices is to carpool. Carpooling is a great way to save gas, instead of everyone driving, why not have one person drive everyone. Another good way to save gas is to take a bicycle or bus to places that are not too far. Any option that you can take instead of having to drive your own vehicle will help in the long run with saving money on gas.

This article is about the Caseys on Casselman street, for the 2nd time this week a fight broke out at the gas station.
I like this article because it is short and gets to the point. They journalist starts off the article with a quick description of when and where the fight takes place. They then go on to discuss that their was no major injuries, they then identify the people involved.
To wrap the article up they discuss that this fight was not related to the other fight this week. The fight earlier this week involved knives and baseball bats while this one only involved parents and teens fist fighting.
The separation of these two fights help the audience separation the two events. When I first read the title I thought the events would be related.
Today I spoke with my roommate, Drew Bessey. Drew is a former college football player and enjoys spending time with his cat
This morning as I was making breakfast Drew had some interesting questions for me. Drew first asked what I thought about our AC being turned off. I told him I was the one who turned it off and that it was cold in my room. He got angry and said, “it’s to damn hot in his room”. I responded with that’s to bad.
Before Drew left for work this morning we talked about last nights football game. As a Giants fan I was upset to see the Giants play so poorly. Drew on the other hand was electric to see my team get beat so badly. We got in a quick argument about who’s team was better and then Drew stormed out for work. Before Drew walked out he yelled for his cat, “Dolphin”. Dolphin quickly emerged from the basement and Drew gave him a treat.

Barney Josheph Jr, owner of a store was robbed at gunpoint late last night.
Barney owns a grocery store on 450 Stanley Street. Last night, two men wearing ski masks came into the store and held Barney at gun point. As Barney was pinned down the other robber stole $382.65 from the register.
Barney tells us that he keeps a pistol under the counter but decided not to use it, he later told police the robbery was over in less than a minute.
After further investigation we were able to determine that Josephs father was killed in a armed robbery almost 25 years prior. “Yes, Dad resisted, I guess. Anyway, they found him shot to death, his own gun in his hand, and a bullet in the store’s ceiling. I’d rather part with my money than my life,” Barney said.
