With cancer becoming an issue in many people lives and issue that can be very emotional for a lot of people and families President Joe Biden is offering some hope for families affected by this terrible disease, mine included. President Biden is making history with a speech being called \u201cCancer Moonshot\u201d according to The Washington Post (Wagner and Alfaro Washington Post).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Monday September 12, 2022, President Biden stood Infront of a podium at the JFK Presidential Library in Boston and announce his initiative to end cancer \u201cas we know it\u201d according to the Associated Press (Miller and Johnston, Associated Press). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Biden, shaping his announcement in a way that President Kennedy did to announce going to moon and developing a \u201cnational purpose\u201d according to the Associated Press (Miller, Johnston, Associated Press). President Biden hopes to cut 50% of cancer related deaths over the next 25 years according to the Associated Press (Miller and Johnston, Associated Press). Again with this statement President Biden is offering hope to families and I truly believe that Biden is going to stick to his promise considering his personal ramifications to cancer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Biden had this to say about his goal \u201cbold, ambitious, and I might add, completely doable\u201d according to the Associated Press (Miller and Johnston, Associated Press). Biden is completely willing to do whatever it takes to fight cancer and get this fight started to end this terrible disease. According to The Washington Post President Biden said \u201cBeating cancer is something we can do together. And that\u2019s why I\u2019m here.\u201d (Wagner and Alfaro, Washington Post). President Biden is offering hope for families on both sides of the isle making cancer research and treatment that is effective to saving people\u2019s lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To lead the initiative President Biden has appointed Dr. Renee Wegrzyn to lead the fight according to the New York Times (Stolberg, New York Times).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Biden has a personal connection to cancer research since his son Beau Biden, and Friend, Former Senator Ted Kennedy died of cancer according to the New York Times (Stolberg, New York Times).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the New York Times Joe Biden issued an Executive Order that would establish an Initiative to work on Biotechnology and Manufacturing in the United States (Stolberg, New York Times).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This issue is truly something that everyone can get behind and support especially when it affects so many Americans. This issue is not partisan, and I think that\u2019s what this country needs right now, especially in this current political climate and I think people are having a hard time realizing that we can do this together. It\u2019s going to be interesting to see what happens in the future with this issue affecting so many families. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
