Celtics Head Coach Ime Udoka faces season-long suspension after having a relationship with staff member

Celtics Head Coach Ime Udoka was suspended earlier this week after it was discovered that Udoka had been having relations with another staff member on the team.

ESPN states, “The relationship is considered a violation of the organization’s guidelines…” It is not heard of to have this long of a suspension for a NBA head coach in this situation.

Udoka joined the Celtics last summer and led them all the way to the NBA Finals. He is only one of five head coaches to do this in the past 25 years.

Joe Mazzulla will become the interim head coach for the season.

ESPN’s article has a good lead. It is straight to the point and gets the most important information across. This is news because it once again shows that leagues like the NBA are taking situations like these very seriously. Even coaches who lead their team to a championship aren’t safe.

Include a link to the story, Jonah. Is suspension enough, or should he have been fired? Was that discussed in the story?
