Backwater’s president, David French, decided that changes were needed to their graduation requirements. This decision came after a study showed that less than a fifth of the student body had taken a foreign language or math course. “We feel that these new course requirements will allow us to turn out better–educated persons.” French stated. Students that start during the Fall 2023 term will now be required to take a math, computer science, and foreign language course.
