Science Story

Not all college professors are trustworthy, and you should be skeptical of them.

An Alzheimer’s drug called simufilam is currently being developed by Cassava Sciences along with City College of New York professor Hoau-Yan Wang. However, lots of their research and data have been brought into question.

The New York Times specifically mentions Wang’s poor data and record keeping. The college has not released an official report of the misconduct, but it soon will. Cassava Sciences will continue the development of the drug.

“In August 2021, two scientists filed a citizen’s petition with the Food and Drug Administration in which they expressed concerns about the integrity of the drug” (The New York Times).

Alzheimer’s affects millions of people around the world. One in three women are diagnosed within their lifetime, and one in ten men are diagnosed throughout theirs. Those suffering should be weary of drugs, especially the drug simufilam.

The College of New York continues to do their own investigation into the manner, and they plan on announcing a statement soon.

  1. The story is the right length, and you should be able
to get a reasonable quote from someone.

I’m not sure I like your lead, though. Wang is more of
a university researcher than a professor. Similar to
University of Iowa Medical School doctors who also
teach. So I think “college professors” in the lead
would be misleading. Besides, we’re all trustworthy
    and honest.
