Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy was asked by rapper Eminem to stop rapping his music.
“Vivek just got on the stage and cut loose.” Tricia McLaughlin, Ramaswamy’s campaign spokeswoman, said referring to the Iowa State Fair where Vivek Ramaswamy was rapping Loose yourself by Eminem.
Not long after the video of Ramaswamy rapping his song, Eminem made the request to the BMI, a performing rights organization, to not let Ramaswamy’s campaign to use any of Eminems music.
Ramaswamy’s campaign got a letter from the BMI saying “BMI will consider any performance of the Eminem Works by the Vivek 2024 campaign from this date forward to be a material breach of the Agreement for which BMI reserves all rights and remedies with respect thereto,”.
According to Fox News former UFC/MMA fighter and commentator Jake Shields posted a screenshot of this story on X, formally known as twitter, saying “Eminem has turned into such a dork that he makes Vivek look cool.”
Tricia McLaughlin also said “To the American people’s chagrin, we will have to leave the rapping to the real slim shady.” Ramaswamy has come out saying he is a huge Eminem fan, but the presidential candidate and this drama between Eminem and Ramaswamy might not be over.
Ramaswamy joked about the letter he got from the BMI saying “Will The REAL Slim Shady Please Stand Up? He didn’t just say what I think he did, did he? @Eminem,” on X.
This is not the first time a politician has gotten into trouble with preforming or using artists music. Former President Donald Trump has gotten many orders from popular artist like: the Rolling Stones, Queen, Adele, and Pharrell Williams.
