Guest Speaker

The guest speaker we had in class on Tuesday helped me understand really understand pilgrimages.  He was focused on Christian pilgrimages but the concept applies to all religions and pilgrimages.  Remembrance was his key word of why people go on pilgrimages which was very interesting because it seems many people feel as if they have fallen away from religion and need to reconnect.  Even though Chritians believe in the same basics their pilgrimages would be very different on the places they choose to go.  The beginnings of the sections of Christianity came from different places which changes where they will visit.  When he talked about walking to the place to make yourself physically uncomfortable and lets you drop your mental stress that is not needed for your experience.  Before he came I was really unaware of Christians taking pilgrimage but it was interesting to hear about it.
