{"id":7,"date":"2011-09-07T03:06:19","date_gmt":"2011-09-07T03:06:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/introtoreligion11\/?p=7"},"modified":"2011-09-07T03:06:19","modified_gmt":"2011-09-07T03:06:19","slug":"relating-to-durkheim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.morningside.edu\/introtoreligion11\/2011\/09\/07\/relating-to-durkheim\/","title":{"rendered":"Relating to Durkheim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I personally relate to Durkheim&#8217;s definition of what he thinks religion is better than the other three we&#8217;ve talked about.\u00a0 I like his wording of religion when he says, &#8220;Religion is a unified system of beliefs and practices relative to sacred things&#8230;&#8221;\u00a0 I take his wording of &#8216;sacred things&#8217; literally like the Bible or an alter.\u00a0 To me these are very sacred items in my practice of religion.\u00a0 When he says &#8216;practices&#8217; I refer to this like the time I was baptized or confirmed in church.\u00a0 These are two very important milestones to me and my family.\u00a0 I feel very familar in Durkheim&#8217;s definition of religion and maybe that&#8217;s why I relate to it so well.\u00a0 I think he&#8217;s much more clear in his definition then the other three as well.
