It honestly surprised me all of the steps it takes to prepare a model for a photo shoot. They took a regular looking lady and totally transformed her into a gorgeous looking lady. It was very shocking because I have always thought that the people in the photo shoot just naturally look like that. I like that Dove is creating awareness for the things that beauty product companies are doing to change the way people look like in the photo shoots.

The contrast effect is an interesting thing to think about because it is true and people just never seem to notice that it is happening. I personally do compare myself to people around me, but I do not think that I hang out with people that are less attractive me or more attractive than me just to be more or less noticed. I do believe that it affects couples that are in a relationship. When the male or female sees a person that is more attractive than their mate makes them have sexual fantasies about the attractive person. This causes the person to be less “in love” with their mate.

It is when you feel ugly around pretty people and pretty around ugly people. Yes I do believe that it does since there are more social activities going on and people are meeting different people than they would have. So people hang out with uglier people to be more noticed by others that pass by them, and ugly people chill with prettier people so that they will have a chance to talk to pretty people.

The contrast effect probably does not affect males as much as females. Females will make friends that they consider less attractive  and take them places so that the prettier one will stand out and more males will notice them. Males make friends based on their interests and not necessarily their looks. We do care what we look like but we want to have fun and be with people that will make it fun.

I do believe that it should be banned in advertising just like the noise banning. The photographs or computer programs change almost every aspect of the image and make it so fake that’s pretty funny. They change the position of the person with a computer or change the shape and little things on the body to make it look “perfect.”

In the documentary the author discusses the use of Calliagnosia with young adults. Calliagnosia is when specialists send waves into someone’s brain and pretty much turns off their ability to tell if someone is considered beautiful, and everyone just looks and appears to be the same. The author has people stating their opinions on certain ideas dealing with Calliagnosia. Tamera Lyons is a large part of the documentary. She was raised with it and had it till she was eighteen, and she was required to have it because of the college she went to required the students to have it. He interviewed both sides of the argument and got people’s takes on the idea and if it should be allowed to happen.

Calliagnosia should not be allowed, in my opinion, because it is discriminating against people that are attractive. People need to learn how to accept themselves for who they are and understand that it is all right that you do not have to look pretty all the time. I believe that unattractive people have someone out there to be with and to love. They just have to find them and the love will be more sincere since it isn’t based off how one of them looks.

This is almost taking away from natural selection, a process that happens everywhere, and will always happen. Scientist has been improving technology so that they can change genetic code of a person and some there is always cosmetic surgery. Some people now a day are kind of a fake beauty, and people need to be able to see this and know that they should be with them for more than just there beauty. I think that many guys are getting shallower and not getting to really know a lady and just being with her because she is “hot.”
