SCAVENGER HUNT

For this scavenger hunt I had to interview two people. The first person was Tony Spina he is a freshman this year. I saw him in the roadman formal, a place many people usually hangout at, I asked him what his favorite movie quote was and he said “to infinite and beyond” from the movie Toy Story. Then I proceeded to ask if he had pocket lint. He was shook I asked this question and he showed me and he did indeed had pocket lint. He said to me “I didn’t know I had this ew”. I found it funny

After this I went to lincon center but I couldn’t find anybody there that was available for me to talk to. So then I proceeded to go somewhere else. I chose to go Lewis Hall where I was unlucky again to find somebody.

The second person I interviewed was Maximilian Sickenberger. I found him in the business office. I asked him what his favourite movie quote was. he said “May the force be with you” from Star Wars. We talked about how Star Wars is one of the best Movie Sagas of all time and how he enjoys specifically Star Wars 3. He said ” My favourite one is revenge of the sith”. This one is also my favourite one. Then I proceeded to ask if he had pocket lint. He was also shook. He had some shorts on and when he went to show me he didn’t have any.

New York Times article: Rodgers Injury Caps a Dismal Summer for New York City Sports Fans

I decided to write about this article because I really like sports and the event that happened could potentially change a whole teams season. The Quarterback of the New York Jets Aaron Rodgers got injured in just his fourth play of the game. This happened on Monday when the Jets where playing the Buffalo Bills on the season opener in New York. Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn achilles which will keep him out for the whole season. I think this is something very hard for the fans of the New York Jets. They have been hyping Aaron Rodgers and their new core of players to finally bring success to this organization and it unfortunately has gone bad again for them Christopher Maag from the New York times mentioned “All that hope and hype lasted exactly four plays. Rodgers fell to the turf on a routine play early in the first quarter, stood briefly, then sat down, a look of disbelief on his face. He had ruptured his left Achilles’ tendon”. Having their star player get injured in the first drive of the opening season game is something no one would have ever imagined.

Final Morocco Struck by Earthquake

Morocco Was hit with the biggest earthquake since 1960. Morocco was hit by an earthquake of 6.8 magnitude this past Friday September 8. The epicenter was 45 miles from the city of Marrakech.

Many lives  were lost during this earthquake, According to Sara Ferguson from Forbes “Families in several cities in Morocco rushed out of their homes and into the streets after a powerful earthquake”

Some areas were hit harder than others.  According to Lauren Hetherby from the The New york times “As of Sunday, the largest number of victims accounted for so far are in the Al Haouz province, a mountainous region of small hillside towns south of Marrakesh, and Taroudant, south of the epicenter. Many of the areas affected by the quake are remote mountain villages that are not easily accessed by emergency teams.”

Unfortunately  those areas that suffered the most damage are not easily accessible so that makes the situation harder for UNICEF and the people who are trying to help.

This has been the most devastating earthquake in morocco since 1960.According to Reuters news “Rescuers on Monday searched villages reduced to rubble for any survivors of Morocco’s deadliest earthquake in more than six decades, in a desperate race against time as the death toll rose to almost 2,500 and the scale of destruction became clearer.”

The numbers of death tolls and people displaced have increased According to Sarah Ferguson from Forbes “Current estimates indicate up to 35,000 people are internally displaced after their homes either flooded or completely collapsed. Families are being hosted by relatives or are sheltering in schools and public facilities. Over 6,000 are confirmed dead; nearly 10,000 remain missing.”

Some of the initial efforts for rescue have come from UNICEF. Antonio Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General, issued a statement saying “the United Nations is ready to assist the Government of Morocco in its efforts to aid the impacted population”.

The United Nations has also been  in constant communication with the Moroccan authorities to bring direct support and response to the situation.

Al Nassr Sign Marcelo Brozovic After Outbidding Barcelona

I decided to write about this article because one of my favorite players took a career choice that many can say was not good but few people can understand. Marcelo Brozovic spent 8 and half years playing for Inter Milan in Italy. He became a club legend in his span for the nerazzurri. After last season ended, there were many people who wanted to get him to play for their club. One of them being one of the biggest clubs in the world Barcelona. There were offers and negotiations between Inter and Barcelona but then a Saudi Arabia club Al Nassr came with an offer he couldn’t refuse. They paid the 18 million he was worth and offered Marcelo monetary wise the biggest deal in his life. Many people argue if going to Saudi Arabia was the right choice for him but I believe it was good for him to take that decision and go enjoy his last footballing years while earning the most hes ever done and secure a good future for his family.

New York Times Article: Spanish Women’s Squad Refuses to Play Until Soccer Chief Resigns

I decided to read this article because I am really interested in sports, especially soccer. When the women’s world cup came around many fans were interested to see who would win. Spain ended up winning the cup but after the celebrations something happened. The Chief of the federation kissed a player without their consent. In this article it is explained with quotes from the player Jennifer Hermoso stating that “in no moment she consented to that kiss”. On the other hand Mr Rubiales the chief of the spanish federation said that he would not step aside. As a result the players won’t come back to play for Spain if Rubiales remains in power. What I think of this article is that Rubiales should step aside. I think this because what he did was wrong. If in no moment there was consent for him to do that then why disrespect the player and invade her private space. If he does not resign it will also bring chaos to the team who just won the world cup, the players would not return which would cause turmoil inside the team and the federation.

About Me

My name is Elias Andrade I was born on December 20 2002. I am Ecuadorian and Croatian. I lived my whole life in Ecuador until I moved at the age of 18 to the U.S. I really love sports specially soccer. I have played soccer since I was really young and it was the sport I fell in love with. Since then I have practiced it all my life and it has gotten me all the way here to Sioux City Iowa. I really like music I am constantly playing music before class or before games I think it’s something that I have always love to do listen to music. I also like hanging out with my friends and family since family is the most important thing for me.

Diego Ocando Interview by Elias Andrade

Today I will be writing about one of my best friends that I have made in college. He is from Venezuela, specifically Maracaibo, which is one of the hottest cities in the world.

He likes to play soccer and his favorite number is 8.  He really likes everything that has to do with mass communication. He likes doing podcasts, radio shifts, and more things of that matter. He is an extrovert that has many friends. He loves all genres of music including country which I find surprising “I really love 7 summers by Morgan Wallen” but you will listen to him most of the time blasting salsa in the roadman halls. With him I have lived countless adventures throughout my college career. One of my fondest memories that I have with him was when at the start of the year we were not close yet and he found me in practice and with his crazy fast venezuelan accent asked me if I wanted to work with him for bucks. I instantly said yes and from there on it was history. “We became the greatest cooking duo in history” we had so much fun in that job and we became super close from there we started hanging out in roadman and became best friends. Who would have thought that a guy from Venezuela and Ecuador would become great friends through working for bucks.

Diego is a person that really likes fashion. He likes to dress well and that is something that I also like so usually when you see him in the cafeteria or in class he will be wearing a really nice outfit. He also loves fragrances. He has plenty of fragrances that he uses for different occasions and he even knows how and what they are made of. He recommended some that are now part of my essentials.
