New York Times: Wildfire in Southern California Forces Thousands From Their Homes by Claire Moses

This article is about the wildfires in California. A wildfire, known as the Highland Fire, broke out in a rural area of Aguanga, Riverside County. It started on Monday and has already burned over 2,400 acres, destroying three structures and damaging six others. Evacuation orders affected nearly 4,000 people and 1,139 homes. An additional 500 homes under evacuation warnings. Strong winds and low humidity are fueling the fire, with easterly winds threatening coastal communities. Over 1,100 emergency responders are fighting the fire aided by firefighting aircraft. One firefighter was injured but is in stable condition, while no civilian injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This a scary situation to be in especially if someone lives in that area and for the families of the firefighter and emergency responders. I wish there was an easier way to control the fires so they stay contained and not spread to people’s houses. Then people have to evacuate on short notice because of the fire is scary and sounds stressful.

Fires will always be news, but they will come in waves. Currency.
