Reading Quiz 3.28

Identify and explain: The chapter’s focus is observing and being observed. Find photos that show willing and unwilling subjects; people who gain and people who lose.

In the first picture, I can tell that the people in the photo are unwilling subjects. None of the 5 people pictured are posed and are minding their own business. I purposefully stood behind three of them so that they would not see me. In the second we can see the subject posing and looking at the camera. He is now a willing participant.

Photo Story Assignment 4.4

Theme: “Music is Alive and Well; A Week of a Music Major”

A run to target before my senior recital. A common courtesy for a recital requires the performer to purchase flowers for both their accompanist & professor.

After performing my senior recital, I was given three bouquets of flowers from friends.

While watching the choirs perform during the Morningside University’s Choral Invitational, I captured the lights illuminating the panels of curtains creating a nice hidden atmosphere.

A rare find: A bass flute. In this series of three bass flute pictures, I capture the pearls and engraved key work.

The bass flute pictured was donated by the family of the late Diane Gross. Diane served as a fantastic private flute teacher at Morningside and left a legacy of remembrance & talent.

A close up of the bass flute keys.

Your most “truthful” photo (3.16)

In this photo, the viewer is able to tell that this is a true photo to life or to human experience. This is because there is pure joy seen on the subjects face and though he is posing, the photo does not seem artificially posed by the photographer. This can be seen in the fact that the lighting is imperfect. We can see unflattering shading.
