Religion-Belief in Karma

In class we have been talking a lot about Hinduism and eastern religions and the belief in karma.  It is hard for me to see how this makes sense to them because I have grown up a totally different way.  The thing that confuses me the most is when they decide they want to end their reincarnation.  They do not want anymore lives.  If they aren’t sure of what their past lives were, how can they feel that they are done with or are “sick of” reincarnation?  Do they just have a gut feeling?  The other thing I wonder about is how they believe their life/spirit just ends.  I’ve tried to think about if I just didn’t exist.  My mind just isn’t capable of it.  I don’t understand how they believe their mind and soul is just gone….So that’s it, just done…

It plays with my mind so much!  I just can’t think what it would be like because I wouldn’t know because I wouldn’t exist.

I totally agree with you, Eastern religion is like psychology. It’s like a mind game that however, which way you look at it there’s so many reasons and explanations but you just don’t know which one is right. But as for the reincarnation part, it’s just that they believe what they are told and when they die they expect that they will continue to be reincarnated until one day their existences ends. Do you think people really get reincarnated after death? What is your view on Nirvana?
