Beauty Captured in Artwork

This week we studied artists and looked at a specific quote they made about art in their lifetime.  We also looked up each artist’s works.

Da Vinci

Da Vinci created most of his work to be realistic.  He studied human anatomy deeply in his lifetime which aided his ability to be able to realistically construct human bodies in his painting.  There is such pure and simple beauty in the human body.  Da Vinci was able to put an emphasis on this beauty with his work.  His artwork captures realistic beauty that is not lost over time.

Courbet

Gustave did not want to belong to any school, institution, church, or regime except liberty.  He simply wanted to be a free man.  Courbet also captured the beauty of realism.  Realism captures the beauty in everyday life.  It takes the beautiful things that we may not even notice and separates them from the world in the form of art.  Putting a beautiful object from nature into a piece that separates from its surroundings allows the objects beauty shine without being overpowered by anything else.

Kandinsky

Kandinsky is known for his abstractions in his artwork.  Abstract art captures beauty because it emphasizes the elements of beauty in objects instead of them as a whole.  Abstractions can bring out elements not seen in something at first.  The beauty of Kandinsky’s work is in the spiritual connection in his pieces.  He demonstrates spiritual elements in his abstractions that allows his audience to connect based on his visual interpretations of feelings.

O’Keeffe

Georgia lived her life for art.  She spent most of it in art schools and institutions teaching and learning.  She had a unique gift of using color to bring out the emotions and power of objects in nature.  She was able to create beautiful pieces all throughout her long life.  Once again, she was able to take something beautiful out of nature and separate and magnify it to see its individual beauty.

Clemente

When looking at Clemente’s work, you notice a very important beautiful aspect of art.  Art is all about expression.  Clemente was able to express many of his thoughts and feelings in his artwork.  Some may be controversial, but he has been able to convey feelings in his artwork visually that you could probably not do verbally.
