Becoming A Hajji

Today during class we went on our own version of the Hajj, only ours was on Morningside campus instead of in Mecca.  We participated in all of the events that the actual Hajji would.  Our events were small examples of the actual Hajj events, but they were very helpful in learning the process.  While we were making our trip, I realized how special and sacred the Hajj is to Muslims.  It inspires me as a Christian to want to make a trip like this to the sacred places of Christianity.  Here in America, Muslims have been given a bad name based merely on stereotypes.  In reality, I think we should look at them and the Islamic practices for inspiration.  Muslims truly know how to live spiritually and practice their beliefs.  Instead of being so critical of people or groups at first, maybe we should look past the stereotypes and look at their backgrounds and practices more closely.
