Honors: Wisdom of Solomon

This reading is about how we (people) make the mistake of noticing beautiful and marvelous things and, in a way, worship those things without thinking deeply into it.  We fail to see who created this beauty and how it was created.  By not realizing this, we take things from this world and make them our idols.  We put so much emphasis on false gods or idols that we do not see past them to see that God really created the beauty we see.

When I apply this reading to my own life, I see that I do this very thing.  I try to focus on what God has provided for me, but I still get wrapped up in the beauty of this earth.  I lose focus and start praising worldly things that interest me.  I fail to see that all these things have been provided by God.  This is such a problem in the world today.  There are so many pretty things that grab our attention.  The world today is built on grabbing attention with beauty as we have discussed already.  These things make us focus so much on the beauty that we praise it and forget about how God created it.

This section reminds me of a great song by Tenth Avenue North.  It’s called “All The Pretty Things.”  The link to this song is posted below.

I really agree with your post and how we lose focus on more important and intangible things like our relationships with God, family, friends, etc. I also really like the song you posted :]

  2. On the other hand business degree zone recognized this weakness and in this regard it offers business degrees along with the very constructive approach of theoretical and practical experience, this additional move towards business world shows very impressive and efficient results to groom and boost up business skills.

  3. Samson says:

Do you think that the reason why sometimes we stray away from worshiping God to worshiping worldly thing is because sin, after Adam and Eve committed the first sin.

  4. Cassie says:

I think that you’re right that we shouldn’t worship beauty itself, but how do you feel about the ethno-centric views of the passage? Is it okay for people to hold different religious views? What do you believe?
