I’m Diego Ocando, in KSMC News. A wedding celebration took a tragic turn yesterday, Richard Brunson, shot his wife in the abdomen 3 hours after getting married.
Richard Brunson and Laurette Kenny Brunson celebrated their union with friends and family on the front porch of their home, Approximately 30 guests attended the joyful occasion. However, by 5 p.m. that same day, a fateful event unfolded that ended in violence. Richard Brunson, a 50-year-old man who works for a construction company shot who had given her consent to the marriage just three hours prior. Laurette Kenny Brunson, 38 years old, threw a plate of wedding reception macaroni salad at him to which the groom responded by pulling out what police reported was a .22 caliber handgun, the shot landed in the bride’s abdomen.

Laurette Brunson was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital for medical attention. Hospital officials report that Mrs. Brunson is in satisfactory condition, despite being shot in the abdomen.
