At five pm yesterday, a conflict broke out between newlyweds and resulted in gunfire, leaving the bride with a wound to the abdomen.

Richard Brunson shot his new bride, Laurette Kenny Brunson, with a .22 caliber handgun after she threw a plate of macaroni salad at him during their wedding reception. The couple was married a few hours prior to the incident at their home with family and friends present.

The couple had been living together five months prior to their marriage, with no previous reports of violence or major conflict.

Mrs. Brunson is in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and she is in satisfactory condition. Mr. Brunson’s whereabouts are still unknown.
