Just heard from Gene about what a great time at St. Ignatius and the Today Show! Robin and I are so proud of all of you and so sad we aren’t there. We will be with you in spirit as you perform at Carnegie Hall. Have a great time. Gene, call me. I want to buy these characters dinner in New York. Thanks!
Today was a full day and I am exhausted. I woke up bright and early so I could go to the Today show with Beth and Jessica, which ended up being worth it because we were on camera behind Al Rocher! A small group of us then moved on to the NBC studio tour. The best set we saw was SNL. The set was being painted when we were there and Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga were somewhere in the building getting ready to be on the next night. They took us to see how the SNL makeup is applied, which was really neat. They take a mold of the actor’s head that is so accurate, the first time they put on the makeup piece is when they are getting ready to go on for the show. The last stop on the tour required volunteers and I was picked! I had to read a short news segment from a teleprompter. It was so much fun! Top of the Rock was next but it had just started raining so the view wasn’t as clear as it could be. We just got back from Marry Poppins, which is a technical theatre marvel. There are so many wonderful special effects and I couldn’t help guess at the mechanics of them all. I would say the highlight of yesterday, however, was singing at St. Ignatius cathedral. Wow. The acoustics were beautiful and I couldn’t help but get chills. Tomorrow is the big day and I still can’t believe it. We saw our picture on the side of Carnegie Hall when we were walking and that made it seem more real. I have no doubt that when tomorrow comes, we will all be extremely nervous. But for now, I am going to bed because there is another full day planned for tomorrow.
