One Last Tour: Get up and go
Andrew Gerodias
Before I start writing about my tour experiences, I’ll introduce myself a little. My name is Andrew Gerodias and a recent graduate of Morningside. I have the honor of going on my final choir tour to New York. I have been in the choir all four years of my Morningside career and currently sing tenor 1. So, now that you know a little about me, I feel I can give my opinions on the trip as we go. We started off early this morning, but not as early as I was expecting. I arrived on campus at 6:15 am to see that we had more choir members there than I was expecting. I was not expecting very many till loading time at 6:30, but it was a nice surprise. This meant that I could start loading the bus early, or so I thought. Sadly, and to my displeasure, we had quite a lot of equipment that needed to be loaded on to the bus as well. This included risers for the concerts, soundboard/speakers for the Jazz Choir, boxes of programs, and the whole set-up for admissions. Needless to say, about half of the storage capacity for the bus was filled already, and I had yet to put in a single suitcase. I am captain of the luggage crew (although good at the game Tetris, I don’t have a lot of experience loading luggage) and so got my group together and went to work. Overall the choir did a pretty good job of packing light for a weeklong trip, but it was still a tight squeeze. Sadly, this means that if anyone misbehaves we won’t have room to throw them under the bus (just kidding). We left this morning with time to spare, and are currently on the road! We will stop just outside of Cedar Rapids for lunch and then continue to our first official stop, Batavia, IL.
Good luck College Choir and SWE!! Have a great time!!
