Founder of Pizza Hut, Frank Carney, dies at age 82.

Carney had been in an assisted living facility located in his hometown in Wichita, Kansas. The cause of death was pneumonia, but Frank had recently recovered from Covid-19 and had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for the last decade.

In 1958, when Frank Carney was just 19 years old him and his brother, Dan, borrowed $600 from their mother to start their own pizza business in Wichita, Kansas.

Starting in a 600-square-foot building, Dan and Frank opened their business one night and attracted customers with free pizza. The restaurant was an immediate favorite to many.

Next year, the brothers began to sell franchises. Through aggressive marketing and intense focus on the quality ingredients and service, Pizza Hut began to make a country wide name for themselves.

The pizza business originally started as an idea to pay through both Frank and Dan’s college bills, but has since turned into the world’s largest pizza chain, 38 years later.

This news is important to anyone who was a big fan of Pizza Hut and is saddened by the news of Frank Carneys death.
