The story I choose was about Bette, Alex Watters’ golden retriever. I would consider this story to be news because Morningside students care and Bette has been very beneficial for students’ mental health and overall happiness on campus. Potential audiences for this story would obviously be Morningside students and staff who want to see Bette. I also think parents would be interested in this story because it is nice to know there are resources on campus that help students and make them smile.

The purpose of this story is to inform people of who Bette is and when she is available on campus. Readers will gain knowledge about Morninside’s animal ambassador and learn about what she does for people on campus.
