Two men wearing ski masks robbed a BJ’s Drug store at gunpoint at approximately 8:30 p.m. last night. One of the men held the store owner, Barney Joseph, at gunpoint while the other removed almost $400 from the cash register.
One of the desk sergeants mentions Joseph kept a pistol under the counter, but he decided not to use it. “I could have reached for the gun,” he told police, “but it felt unwise.” The robbery was over in less than a minute.
While doing more research, it was discovered that Joseph’s father was killed during a hold up at the same store almost 25 years ago. Joseph was asked if he recalled that shooting during the holdup.
“Yes, Dad resisted, I guess. Anyway, they found him shot to death, his own gun is his hand, and a bullet in the store’s ceiling. I’d rather part with my money than my life,” he said.
First sentence is a decent lead. Then a new graf.
