Five People Dead After Plane Crash
A TWA jet containing fourty five passengers and crew members took-off at Kennedy International Airport Thursday night. What was supposed to be a routine trip turned devastating. The jet crashed during takeoff resulting in five deaths.
Backwater State University associate professors John Dumont and George Johnson, were aboard the aircraft when it crashed. They were both returning from different conferences in New York City. Luckily, both professors escaped injury.
Backwater State University Changes Course Curriculum
Backwater State University President, David French, announced changes in the graduation requirements. This announcement came after a recent study showed only 15 percent of students took a foreign language course and only 20 percent took a math course during their time at Backwater State.
Students entering in fall of 2023 must take one math, computer science, and foreign language course. President French said, “We feel that these new course requirements will allow us to turn out better-educated persons.”
Daughter of Local Attorney, Jim Wensen, Arrested for Drunk Driving
Cathy Wensen, daughter of locally prominent attorney, Jim Wensen, was arrested last night for driving under the influence of alcohol. This is her third infraction with drunk driving in the last six months.
Cathy is a senior at Vanderbilt University studying biology. She was this year’s homecoming queen; has been a cheerleader. She is also a straight-A student.
