They Died Because They Were Black in America

This was the headline that appeared in the New York Times. It catches the eye and persuades the reader to click on it. When you open the article and begin to read, the headline seems a little misleading.

Three African American people were shot and killed at a Dollar General in Jacksonville, Florida. The author said “They died because they were Black in a country that still produces white supremacists intent on hatred and death.” This particular sentence bothered me a little bit. These three people did not die because they were black. They died because someone shot them.

The author then continues and begins to talk about Martin Luther King Jr. and his “I Have a Dream” speech. While I feel the title of this article is a bit misleading, the piece is very well written and addresses a very serious issue we are facing in America.

  1. Good About Me page. You could also give the blog a name: Classic Clarissa?

OK on the summary. Expand on your comments. It sounds like you may have issues with the objectivity of the story. But it is in the opinion section. Expand and explain.
