A Good Conversation

I interviewed Mandi De Joungh. She is from Hull, IA and is a junior at Morningside. She used to play golf, volleyball, and basketball in high school but she didn’t make it through high school because “she didn’t have the right last name.” She mentioned that being from a small town Is hard to be in sports because they start players that have a more known family name than other people. When she was playing golf in high school, she told her coach that she didn’t want to play in any meets, just wanted to go for practices. The coach ultimately was OK with that.
