Stuart Scott is a long time sports caster and anchor on ESPN. Stuart had a great honor at the ESPY awards to receive the Jimmy V award for his ongoing battle of cancer.
Stuart started out by saying, “Everyday I am reminded that our life’s journey is really about the people who touch us.” Stuart Has presented this award to a few people over his career, but he was ecstatic to receive it himself.
The reason Stuart felt he deserved the award is because of seven words spoken by Jim Valvano saying, “Don’t give up, don’t ever give up.” His whole speech was bout bringing inspiration to the public and to keep fighting. He said, “when you die, that does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live and in the manner in which you live”
The second sentence is closer to the lead, Brian, but it doesn’t
describe the power of his speech. The first sentence is context:
Why was he giving a speech?
The third graf does well with paraphrase. With some revision this
graf could also be lead material.
Don’t depend on chronology. You pick what is important and make
that the focus of the story.
