This past summer in Oregon, the state debuted the very first legal market for psilocybin mushrooms. They are typically referred to as ‘Magic Mushrooms.’ The state approved of the purchasing and consuming of this psychedelic under guidance of a certified facilitator.
Alex Beck, an armed forces veteran was suffering from PTSD from his time in the forces. He’s been searching many ways to end his reoccurring nightmares and heal his mental health from previous scars. He discovered a psychedelic trip through the inner regions of his own mind. When taking the mushrooms, Beck’s facilitator told him that for the best results, surrender and let the mushrooms guide your brain.
Beck was one of the first clients at this facility located in central Oregon. the began conducting sessions that also offer chiropractic services. Beck is not a rookie with psychedelics. In his youth years he experimented with them for recreational uses. through his adult hood Beck built up lingering post-traumatic stress from external forces which gave him the thought to research psychedelics and consider using trying them again, but this time for medical purposes instead of recreational use.
Psychedelics are currently in the stages of a revival. With a stigmatization through law and medicine, a growing body of research suggests that mind altering compounds, such as hallucinations could transform psychiatric care. Oregon voters approved of a drug decriminalization plan in 202 which backed the initiative of using mushrooms as therapy.
Various forms of fungi and plants have been used for thousands of years but was more recently popular throughout the 1950s. psilocybin has the power to change perceptions and bend emotions in ways that are therapeutic to many individuals. It has been proven to help people with PTSD, substance abuse, and many other mental conditions that many people suffer through in their daily lives.
Marijuana is legal in all but 12 states in some form whether medical and/or recreational. the psilocybin market is still small in comparison with marijuana. in Oregon, only five businesses are approved for the manufacturing os psilocybin and 13 sites are approved to host sessions. Many states are analyzing Oregons studies and and what the outcome is. Colorado just approved the decriminalization of the drug to put the state on path to a legal, therapeutic market.
If this is your science story (it could be) it needs to be much shorter.
Watch out for those psychedelics. They’ve got guns!
