Plane crashed on the tarmac before takeoff!

            A tragedy occurred Thursday night leaving 5 people dead and many injured. A TWA jet anticipated take off when the plane malfunctioned and crashed on the runway. There was 45 passengers and crew members on board. 

            Our very own John Dumont, and George Johnson luckily survived with little to no injury. They were able to board a new flight and make it home the next day. JFK is assessing damages to the tarmac and the Trans world airlines has taken the black box from the plan to understand why and how the plane malfunctioned. They gave their sympathies to the family and friends of the lost loved ones and assured them that they are taking the issue very seriously. More stil to come on the Tarmac crash. 

New Curriculum change for the better, or worse? 

            Backwater State university just released a statement that they are planning on changing the curriculum for the upcoming fall semester. They announced that incoming freshman are required to take a math class, computer science, and a foreign langue class to graduate. 

            President David French mentioned that “we feel that these new course requirements will allow us to turn out better-educated persons.” This was released after finding showed that only 15 percent of students were taking advantage of the foreign language courses offered and only 20 percent of students took math classes. President French believes that by making these mandates. Students are going to have a more, well-rounded education while at Backwater State. Do you agree with this? 

Homecoming Queen at Vanderbilt partied a little too hard 

            Cathy Wensen, 22-year-old senior was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. This is her 3rdoffense which landed her a night in the prison cell. Cathy was anticipated to graduate this year with a biology major as a straight A student, while also being on the cheerleading squad, and this year’s Homecoming queen. 

            Cathy is from Ontario, Canada where her mother Sharon Wensen still resides, With Cathy being an international student it causes a little bit of conflict with her being arrested. Depending on how serious the offense was there is a chance that she could be deported back home. There has been no release of a court date, more to come on this story.
