Explosion at Mega City Mall leaves two dead and many more hospitalized. At 8:50 this morning, an explosion occurred in the food court at the Mega City Mall. Two male fatalities have been reported. The identity of these two men have not been released as families are still being contacted. Approximately 100 other victims have injuries aligning with smoke inhalation and fire damages.
The cause of the explosion is unknown, but according to Sgt. Fuglsang of the Mega City Police Department, no foul play is suspected. “At this time, we have no credible evidence that it was anything other than an accident.” Mall security is assisting the police department in investigating the situation.
The explosion occurred in the food court and Frisky Cream Donut took a lot of damage. Bell Taco employee Emma Anderson explains that while on her lunch break, she heard the explosion. “There was damage everywhere. Everyone was screaming and running.” Echoing Andersons point, a mall patron who prefers not to be named stated, “There was a lot of screaming and crying. I fled the scene.”
Mega City Mall released a statement about the incident. “Mega City Mall holds the safety and security of our employees and patrons to the utmost importance. We are saddened to hear the accident has caused injury to so many people and we want to extend a hand of sympathy to the families of the victims who lost their lives. We are working closely with the Mega City Police Department to solve this and do our best to ensure it will not happen again.
