“Hot Girl Walks” have gained popularity, bringing people together nationwide.
Inspired by the viral concept of Hot Girl Summer, the “Hot Girl Walk” has become a nationwide sensation. Starting as a way to get out of the house during the Covid- 19 pandemic, the Hot Girl walk has evolved and changed into what it is today.
TikTok creator Mia Lind started the movement when she posted a video describing what she called the Hot Girl Walk. “The Hot Girl Walk is a four-mile outdoor walk where you can only think about three things: things you’re grateful for, your goals and how you want to achieve them and how hot you are,” she told viewers in a Tik Tok video that now has over 750,000 views.
Unlike other workout fads, this one is backed by science. The two main components of Hot Girl Walks, walking and mindfulness, are proven beneficial for both mental and physical health.
The simplicity of the Hot Girl Walk has contributed to its widespread adoption. As with many trends, the Hot Girl Walk has evolved and changed since its birth. For one, it’s not just for the ladies. “It’s a mindset that anyone can attain,” Jared Nicholas, a junior Morningside student, states, explaining that anyone can partake in the activity and take advantage of its benefits.
Other adaptations made to the trend include bringing a pet along, wearing a cute workout outfit and listening to podcasts. Hot Girl Walk Facebook groups have even been created to bring together groups of people in an area. It’s not just a fitness routine; it’s an experience aimed at promoting overall well-being.
Reese Portugue, a senior at the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse incorporates Hot Girl Walks into her weekly routine. “It gives me a chance to catch up with friends but also makes me feel good to do physical activity.” Portugue says. When the Wisconsin winter hits, Portugue transitions to her university gym and utilizes the treadmills. The location may change but the essence of the Hot Girl Walk never does.
Looking ahead, Reese says that she will continue to Hot Girl Walk for the foreseeable future. Overall, it appears the Hot Girl Walk is here to stay. With individuals like Reese putting their own spin on the concept and making it part of their routine, the movement continues to evolve. The Hot Girl Walk is more than just a trend. It is a transformative practice that brings people together and promotes positive well-being.
