Message From The Director

Howdy!

This is the inaugural monthly E-Newsletter from the Alumni Office – the purpose of which is to keep you informed on all of the activities and discussion taking place at Morningside College. You can look for it to come your way in the middle of each month.

Purposely, most items will be brief. We will highlight events, alumni, students, and share other pertinent information and photos when possible. Also, be looking for articles about our Young Alumni activities, updates on the progress of our new Chapter initiative, the latest on what the Retirement Club has been up to, and information on what your Alumni Association Board of Directors has going on. Along with all of that, an important part of this E-Newsletter is the feedback mechanism that allows you to share with us!

I hope you enjoy our E-Newsletter. Let us know your thoughts; we want to hear from you! We promise to respond in a timely fashion – no matter what.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all alumni who have taken the Alumni Survey!  Please know how much we appreciate it!  Your feedback on what we do and how we do it is very important to us!  Happy Thanksgiving!!

Until next time,

Gene Ambroson, x ’71

     Name: Ryan Martinez

     Major: Graphic Design

     Future Plans: Start own business
Ryan took part in a Startup Weekend in Lake Tahoe, California, with three other Morningside students. There he created a team to put an idea he had to work. The group ended up combining Ryan’s idea and a fellow group member’s idea together to create Clockwork. In 52 hours, their idea was starting to come to life. Ryan is now partners with that fellow group member, Tito Hamze. They are currently working on launching the product. What is Clockwork? It is a mobile app for smartphones that will be used to automatically clock workers in and out when they cross over the Geothermal fence. It also keeps track of what they are doing during work. Their main target audience is construction companies, but they hope to expand to more areas in the near future.
