by Lindsey Smith — Matthew Nieland and Madison Harpenau were crowned Homecoming King and Queen after the talent show Tuesday night.
Candidates for King included Chad Berg, Brian Vander Berg, Logan Anderson, Connor Niles, and Matthew Nieland.
Queen candidates were Madison Braun, Shaley McDermott, Mara Amsberry, Marisa Christie, and Madison Harpenau.
Both king and queen expressed their excitement at winning and appreciate their fellow classmates’ nomination.
Nieland said, “I was really surprised to get the honor. I wasn’t expecting it at all. I just want to thank all the students who voted because it’s a really neat tradition to have at Morningside.”
Harpenau chimed in, “I was on the court with some amazing people. I just feel incredibly honored and excited that my peers thought to nominate me as homecoming queen.”
