By Jenni Beaver- On April 5th, a stand against human trafficking event is being held on the M on campus. The event runs for 24 hours, from 12 PM April 5th to 12 PM April 6th.

One of the event’s coordinators, Erica Young says, “We will be on the M during this time and are trying to raise money and awareness for the victims of trafficking.”

All proceeds go to benefit the Siouxland Coalition Against Human Trafficking and their Restoration House.

Supporter of the event, Sheila Ruiz says, “Anyone can participate… we want people to be aware and get donations to help the people that have suffered.”

There are several topics for the event: foster parents; men, women, child, and teen sex trafficking; Sioux City and Iowa sex trafficking; money to be made; Midwest versus country sex trafficking; Siouxland Coalition; and illnesses or STDs.

If you are interested in participating, contact Erica Young or Nancy Medel.

You can stand, donate, or both. By participating, you are a part of the team trying to end sex trafficking in Sioux City and beyond.
