Spring Break Power Outage

By Kayla Samek–Even though the residence halls remained open for Spring Break this year, just a few students choose to stay at the school. Unfortunately for them, around midnight of Friday the 11th, a car hit a utility pole, causing a power outage for much of the campus.

The downed pole affected the buildings along Peters Avenue on Morningside campus, along with more than 100 homes in the area. Power was restored by morning to the community.

Sources on campus said the driver of the car that crashed into the pole was a 17-year old male. There were two other teenaged passengers in the car, and after the accident all three fled the scene on foot. Two of the three participants in the accident have been caught. No word on whether either was the driver, or if the driver will face charges.
