Movie Review: Deadpool

By Kayla Perkins: With great power comes great irresponsibility, and Deadpool is the one to serve justice in
theaters near you. Produced by 20th Century Fox, Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds, depicting the origins of “the merc with a mouth.” The film also stars Stefan Kapicic and Brianna Hildebrand as X-Men Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, respectively.
Deadpool is not for kids. Packed with action, the film depicts graphic violence, language, and nudity gratuitously  throughout the film. Wit and snark, along with  breaking of the 4th-wall keep the audience on their feet expecting the unexpected. However, when things get real, they get real, depicting death and torture openly. Don’t take your kids to this movie, folks.
Ryan Reynolds makes for a solid character, embodying Deadpool with spot-on characterization. His witty one-liners, body language, and emotion allow him to capture Wade Wilson in a way that others couldn’t. His enthusiasm is clearly reflected in his character, creating a one of a kind rendition of the loveable Deadpool.

The film, along with its hilarious advertising made for a hilarious and amazing film, in my opinion. The audience gets to see an in-depth analysis of Wade Wilson, and the references and wall-breaks are spot-on.

Overall I would give this film a 9/10, for its great characterization and humor. However, I believe a few more characters would have added to the film. (Don’t worry, it makes fun of itself enough to make up for it.)
