By Diane Nguyen–Desiree Ponce – Dez – is the Morningside Activities Council (MAC) Secretary. From Santa Ana, CA Dez is a junior majoring in counseling psychology.
The MAC Secretary keeps track of who the MAC members are, who’s signing up for what events, sending out emails, keeping track of all the events, and overall in Dez’s word, “Keeping MAC organized.”
Being MAC secretary is “very time consuming, but if you enjoy it, it doesn’t seem like hard work,” she said. Although it is time consuming, Dez is a fan of what the job of a MAC Exec implies, which is giving the students what they want.
She wants the students of Morningside to understand “our job is based on them, and they have to understand we don’t pick exactly what we want. We pick what we thing the students would want.”
Something Dez would like to push for this year in MAC is “having the executive team make the MAC members feeling special and valid.” That way students know and feel that they can come and visit MAC and always feel welcomed.
Besides being involved in MAC, Dez is also involved in church. She likes to hang out with her friends playing video games and board games. And when she is alone, Netflix is her best friend.
MAC Meetings are Wednesdays in the Student Government Office, located in the lower level of the Olsen Student Center, at 6pm.
